Check me Out!!

I started a page on Facebook to promote these things and it is going great.  I easily doubled orders in one day.  I was keeping about four orders in line and now I am keeping 9 or 10 in the pocket.  turn around is still about one week for the product and then delivery time.  So check me out, if you haven't already.  See my wares and order something nice for yourself.  Woo hoo!

The Outdoorsman

So a long time ago, I told a friend that I would make a hat for her boy.  I completely forgot and weeks went by with my promise unfinished.  Life happened and tons of orders starting pouring in, then I spoke with her on the phone.  She told me to wait until I got all the others ones done as she didn't mind waiting....I was like"Sh%$!, I completely forgot"  After apologizing, I tried to figure out how I was going to fit it into the schedule, well, I did it, I just did it.  It is a very simple basic hat and somethimes those are the best ones:)  Hoping to get it in the mail in the next few days but here is a peek at my quickly worked up Outdoorsman hat

I had to include this "Zoolander" Model pic.  What is up with his lips?  There are several of these "looks" on my camera right now. LOL!

It is Offical...well, almost!

I have decided to do it.  I am going to make a go of this.  Do I think I will become a millionaire?  No.  Do I think I can actually make money doing this?  Kind of.  Do I think I will love trying to do it?  You know it!  I have started by making a FB page promoting my items.  I am hoping through the word of mouth and FB I can really get my name out there.  My next venture is going to be an Etsy site.  My long term goals would be for this to make it so I can stay home and spend all those precious minutes and hours with Due and Pie.  So wish me luck and pray that it works because I am going to need all the help I can get:)

Welcome to the Family!

My cousin has been trying to get pregnant for the longest.  Two weeks ago, God placed a baby in her arms.  Through the gift of another mother, my cousin became the mother of a beautiful baby boy.  We are sadly 400 miles away and can't pinch his cheeks or see those baby toes but we can see pictures.  I know that her new bundle will be loved and spoiled all the days of his life.  Congratulations to the new parents and Good Luck!!  I can't hold him yet, but I can send some love in the shape of an owlet hat.

I love these hats and all of their cuteness but I will not bore you with any more pics of them unless they are for a really great reason, like a new member to my extended family:)

Pink Monkeys and Purple Turtles

A friend of mine asked me to make her girls some winter hats.  I sent her a baby gift of a miniture Hooter Hat for her baby boy that is going to make his appearance this week.  So exciting!  After seeing how completely awesome the baby's hat was, there was no way store bought would do.  When talking to her about what she wanted, I was stumped for a little while.  A purple turtle hat and any kind of pink animal, flower whatever hat.  I tossed ideas around to her and The A.B. and came up with these.
The Pie may be scarred for life.  The idea of putting the pink hat on was traumatizing.  One would think that we are not gender neutral in our home.  I assure everyone that I encourage the boys to play with ANY toy they like.  Barbies or Trucks makes no difference to me, so I am going with it must be genetic:)
Due was not nearly as hard to convince to put on the hat.  He likes any reason to get his picture taken.  Seriously, any reason.  This hat is hard to express in a photo, just know that it is fabulous:)

Could it be true?

So The A.B. came home from work last week and told me that we have an additional bill to pay, that is in addition to the millions we already pay with one salary. I started looking for a part time job and it was completely breaking my heart. I can not imagine not being with Due and Pie all day...don't even get me started on what is going to happen next year when Due goes to school, but that is a story for another day.

Anyhoo, yesterday I got a phone call from my SIL regarding commissioning work for her friend's store...woo hoo. Then shortly after, I got an email from a friend wanting to pay me for some winter gear for her lovies. Then another custom order. This all happened in a matter of hours. I never thought that I could make any money doing what I love to do, other than a craft show once or twice a year, and my projects have always been for personal use or gifts but the thought of getting paid for things is exciting. Maybe I will take the advice I have been given over and over again and get an Etsy shop...hmmmmmm. Decisions, decisions:)

Whoooo's there?

The long hot days of summer are over and the beginning of cooler fall days have made a pleasant appearance. Looking through Ravelry I came accross the cutest hats, but being the cheapskate that I am, I won't buy a pattern unless I really need it. Therefore I made my own up:) After an attempt that turned out way to small for either of my lollipopped headed boys, I made a lovely brown Hooter hat for a friend about to have her own owlet. This Hooter hat, which is a bit bigger, was hatched from my hook about 9 days ago. It has already ventured to the store and park several times. Apparently my children are used to the cold days of PA and think that October means winter gear. Not quite yet. Pie is constantly wearing, looking for, or playing with his Hooter. I must say that since hooking this one, I am ready for more Owlet creations. It is really cute enough to eat:)

There is No Room for Pink Ruffles

The color pink is taboo in our house. I dream of having a lovely pink yarn on my hook that is so soft you think you are touching a cloud. Not going to happen anytime soon. My latest creation, at the request of my sister no less, is the eyeball hat. We live in South Carolina. It is October. It is not cold. Due has been wearing this hat for a week now. It was for my sister for Halloween and now I am making the second one for her.

I have thought of writing the patterns I come up with down....maybe while creating the second one I will do so:)

The Time of My Life

The days are long but the years are so short. I am a stay at home mother and some days can feel like they last a year but during those long days, years have slipped by. The baby faces have turned into the faces of full fledged boys. Two boys, who woulda thunk? Growing up, when I thought about being a mother, I always thought about what I would do with my daughters. Never in my daydreaming did I think I would be the only girl in my little family. I could not ask for more.

The 3 males in my life, The Amazing Breadwinner or The A.B. as I will call him, the eldest son called Due, and the Youngest called Pie, have made me the happiest woman in the world. I know that I am lucky to have the life I have and during this part of my life I am truly having the time of my life.
